| Welcome to Bayside Adolescent Boarding Incorporated youth justice program [FAQs]Member, Youth and Community Combined Network [YACCAN] [ Legal Arts | Youth Festival | Upper Primary | Lose Fuse | Chill Out | Counselling ] The Youth Justice Program is funded by the Department of Communities to deliver a range of services to young people 10-17 years who are at risk of becoming involved or becoming further involved in the juvenile justice system. The Youth Justice Program works collaboratively with young people in a Wynnum/Redlands Youth and Community Combined Network offers a variety of services to young people:
Wynnum Legal Arts Program This program funded under Graffiti Solutions by the Department of Communities, aims to provide young people with an avenue to contribute and participate positively in their local community. The program encourages young people to develop individual skills and team-skills through a series of community mural projects. These murals are large-scale walls and become permanent local features for all community members to appreciate and enjoy. 4 walls that have been completed through the Legal Arts Program are at Wynnum North Scouts, Wynnum High School, Wynnum PCYC and Lindum wall. Youth Justice Program supports and is actively involved with the annual Wynnum Youth Injected Festival. This festival is about giving young people an opportunity to ‘inject’ their creative talents and skills into their community. Youth Justice Program (YACCA) supports
Upper Primary Program (UPP) The Upper Primary Program (UPP) is a leadership program for young boys aged 10-12 years of age. It was first trialled in 2004. This program aims to help young boys at risk of being excluded from primary school because they have exhibited challenging behaviours. UPP is delivered in Partnership with Queensland Police, Youth Support Coordinators, and Education Queensland. 'Lose the Fuse' The ‘Lose the Fuse’ Program aims to assist young men in developing skills for coping and dealing with anger in healthy, constructive ways. This Program engages young men in practical learning exercises aimed at skill development, an experiential model. Activities in past programs have included aerosol art, martial arts, music, visits to fitness centres, discussions and food. ‘Chill Out’ Program The Youth Justice Program also delivers a range of recreational activities during school holidays. The 'Chill Out' Program (Sponsored by Brisbane City Council) works in partnership with Youth Justice Program and LINX Wynnum Youth Space, to provide a diverse range of holiday activities. Youth Justice Counselling A Youth Justice Counsellor works 2 days per week, providing individual and family counselling for young people 10-17 years of age, at risk of entering the juvenile justice system. Referrals for the Youth Justice Program are received from Community Conferencing, Queensland Police, Lifeline, Department of Communities, Department of Child Safety, Youth Agencies, Schools, and self-referral.
